Kristan Zolnoski introduced her guest…..Lindsay Martsolf, President of the Central Pa. Autism Society and coordinator of this year’s Winterfest. Lindsay thanked the membership for the donation that we made to Winterfest….a special event on December 16th for individuals who have autism, sensory disorders and/or special needs.
News of the Week:
…..At lunch last week, the club presented our two wonderful waitresses, Lorie and Alice, with Christmas gifts of cash.
…..President Rachael read a thank you note from Lauri Claar of Funds for Freedom, to whom we recently made a donation.
…..President Rachael also thanked everyone for their efforts on our annual Christmas Candy Sale. A special thanks goes out to candy chairman Kathy Storm who coordinated the sale. The totals to date include candy sales of $6,160 and fair share (500 club) pledges of $1,106 for a total profit of $3,362! Mike Strait was top seller with $1,461 in sales. There were a total of 12 Fair Share givers….but there’s still time to sign up. Anyone selling $500 of candy, making a $200 contribution or any combination of the two…can join the Fair Share givers in a special recognition lunch in 2018.
…..Last Thursday, Dave Aikens and John Lloyd delivered Amtrykes to two children. The first went to 4 year old Eddie Coltabaugh of Tyrone. The second went to 2 year old Christian McKnight of McClure. A third tryke will be presented to 5½ year old Mia Wombacher of Glasgow. Mia and her family will be our guests at the Christmas party Tuesday night, where she will receive her Amtryke. We’ve also received two additional tryke requests, which will be presented in January.
…..Last week the raffle ticket of Bill Reintgen was chosen. But, Bill chose 
unwisely….picking the Three of Spades from the deck. On January 2nd, you can have the chance to take home a pot of around $350 by picking a Joker out of the remaining 37 cards.

The Altoona AMBUCS are now registered with Amazon and consequently they will donate a portion of your purchases to us. Just in time for Christmas! …..I didn’t see any “33” scores this weekend…..but there’s still Monday Night football….so someone might have some extra Christmas funds!
…..Did you know that in 1932 during the Great Depression, the membership met to dissolve the American Business Clubs (the name before AMBUCS) after losing 32 clubs in a single year and being $19,000 in debt? The leaders decided to keep meeting until they liquidated the debt. In the meantime, the practical National President, Herman J. Smith, held it all together by running the national office out of his 1929 Pontiac.
