What an exciting time is awaiting you at the Northeast Regional Conference which will be held April 28-30, 2017 at the Altoona Grand Hotel. Ambucs from all over the Northeast Region along with our National President Eric Oschwald, National Executive Director Jay Laurens, Amtryke guru Joe Copeland and National Big Hat President Diana Ulrich will be gathering to celebrate the success we have had “creating independence and mobility for those with disabilities”.
The Friday night social will be held at PNC Ballpark…home of the Altoona Curve. The dinner buffet will be served from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and will feature hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken and ribs. AMBUCS will be highlighted throughout the evening with displays on the concourse, throwing out the first pitch, an on-field Amtryke presentation and between-inning entertainment. Don’t forget about the awesome Curve post-game fireworks!
Saturday kicks off with the fun-filled Big Hat Breakfast at 7:30 am followed by the General Sessions at 9:00 am. Come hear your national and regional leaders report on what’s new in our organization and answer any questions that you might have. The afternoon Educational Sessions will be centered on the Amtryke with classes on building, getting therapist involved and presentation. The evening will feature the Awards Banquet and Big Hat Auction that will start with cocktails at 6:00 pm followed by a buffet dinner of prime rib, chicken and fish at 6:30 pm. Following dinner, remarks will be heard from Northeast Regional Director Pam Rasmussen and the evening will come to a close with the infamous Big Hat Auction.
Sunday will begin at 9:00 am with the Living Endowment Breakfast which will feature a guest speaker and Amtryke presentation. The conference will conclude with the traditional “fine ceremony” and reading of the proclamation.
Dress is casual for all events except Saturday night banquet where business casual is appropriate.
Altoona AMBUCS will be hosting the conference hospitality suite which will be open throughout the three day event. Make it a point to come in and get to know those that share the same energy, passion, and desire to serve those in need.
With the AMBUC Regional Conference being held in our community, you will be able to enjoy the experience of meeting other Ambucs, learn about other chapter successes done in their area, meet national officers and representatives and most important…have a great time at a fraction of the cost!
I hope that you will consider this invitation and support the hard work that the club’s conference committee has done to make this conference the best ever. Sign-up sheets for each event are available at the weekly luncheon meeting or you can make reservations by responding to this email or contacting Ed Garlena at ed.garlena@gmail.com or at 889-1996. Let’s pack the house with Altoona Ambucs and show the commitment and pride that we have in our community!
