News of the Week:

…..The AMBUCS Blood Screening Program is set for Saturday, May 6th.  This year’s screening will again be held at the Park Hills Golf Club, with appointments available from 6:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The screening, besides being a community service, is a major fundraiser for the club. A typical year will net the club around $12,000. A mailing, describing this year’s screenings, was sent out to 824 people who have used our screenings in the past. Volunteers are needed the morning of the screenings from 5:30 AM to around 10:00 AM to help with registration and other tasks. Your help is also needed to promote the event by passing out the brochures and/or displaying the posters at your business. Additionally your business might consider providing the blood screenings to their employees as a health benefit. Currently Reliance Bank and Investment Savings Bank offer that to their employees. The employees of these businesses just show ID and the club then bills the business for the screenings. If your business is interested in providing that benefit, please contact Paul Dick. Information on the blood screening can be found on our website as well as on our Facebook page. Please share the links with all of your friends and co-workers. The link is:

…..Help is needed in securing the program speakers for our next club year.  A sign-up sheet is being circulated in order for you to sign up for a month. You can also share a month with someone. The new club year begins in June, but we also need for someone to sign up for this May. Actually, that’s an easy one…..since Ashley has already agreed to take two of those weeks.

…..Remember the Regional Conference is right around the corner. A sign-up sheet is being circulated for the many activities planned for the last weekend in April. The conference won’t get any closer than when it’s held in Altoona.

…..Hopefully you saw the email from Scott Schraff regarding the NCAA Basketball Tournament Bracket pool contest. For a measly $5….you could be a winner!

…..Speaking of winners…..we are starting over on the 50/50 ticket raffle after President Ed cleaned us out. A new deck, with two Jokers and a $50 starting pot is ready for our next winner.

…..Jim Huff announced that he is planning another bus trip to see the Pirates play the Phillies on Saturday May 20th. A sign-up sheet will be circulated soon.

In Closing:  As I’m sure you’ve noticed….most of my “In Closing” items are designed to bring a smile to your face, whereas today’s closing will hopefully make you think a little bit. Last weekend our family attended a memorial service for my brother-in-law who recently passed. At his request, the following poem was read at his service. This poem, written by Linda Ellis, was a favorite of his and has a message that makes you ponder just how you are spending your dash…
